I thought it would finally be a good time to introduce you to some of my favourite places on the interwebs.
onegreenplanet
This is my number one resource for all things vegan. They share "green ideas": nutritional tips and tricks, information on the latest food trends, great recipes, animal rights and welfare related stuff and loads of lifestyle articles on how to live more sustainably and consciously in general. I could spend ages browsing the site with all its wonderful subcategories, taking notes, planning meals, thinking about how we all have an impact on this world and are therefore capable of changing it for the better.
TED talks
TED stands for Technology, Education and Design, but I would say that it's way more than that: It's about ideas worth spreading, ideas worth living for, ideas to change the world.
At TED conferences, the planet's most enthusiastic people are given a stage where they can share their passions, knowledge and beliefs and perceptions, presenting them to a large and equally enthusiastic audience.
I started watching TED talks a few months ago, and since the very first
one I have been fascinated with and inspired by all those great ideas.
The talks help me to perceive the world from so many different
perspectives and every single one of them makes me realise how much
potential there is in human life in a very unique way. Again, as cheesy as it sounds, they remind me that together, we can make this world a better place.
Have a look at some of my favourite talks.
PostSecret
Every Sunday morning, I use this blog as an excuse to stay in bed for just a little longer. For me, reading other people's secrets and spending some time musing about them is a great start to the last day of the weekend.
Alright, I realise how weird that probably sounds. Let me explain: Postsecret is an art project established by Frank Warren. He encourages people to create an art postcard with a secret of theirs on them and to send it to him. As a curator, he selects a few of the ones he receives and posts them on the blog every Sunday for everyone with an internet connection to read them. (If you're more interested in how it works, here is a tour of the PostSecret headquartes in which Frank also explains a lot about how and why he does all of this.)
I really love this website. Not only is it entertaining, but it also shows you that there are others out there who are just like you, who might face the same problems and struggle with the same issues. The encoruagement within the community is amazing, and if you are ever in doubt, this website can help you realise that yes, you can make it. (But be aware that a great deal of the secrets can also be very depressing!)
Rookie Mag
It's actually a shame that I discovered this site just now as my teenage years are coming to an end, but I will always come back to it for sure! It's very enjoyable to have a read through the lastest posts every now and then.
Rookie is an online magazine for young girls, dealing with all kinds of topics around girl/womanhood, growing up, life, love, fun and more. It features texts, photography, art, interviews, videos, playlists, comics, illustrations, stories, tutorials ... you get the idea.
Browsing the site boosts my self esteem, makes me feel less awkward, provides lots and lots of inspiration and makes me want to go out there and show the world who I am. Highly recommended, and not only suitable for young girls, honestly!
I guess this is also a nice time for a little self promotion.
I adore words. Inspirational, thoughtful quotations and beautiful ideas have always fascinated me. A while back, I created a little internet space to collect my personal favourites, so that I would always be able to read through them again and remember. Most of them are in English, but you will find the occasional French and German ones as well.
